Join us for Educator Connect, a dynamic in-person gathering designed to bring family child care educators and assistants together for learning and connection. Light breakfast will be provided.
This event offers space to:
- Build and strengthen relationship with fellow educators
- Connect and get to know the All Our Kin NY Team
- Earn professional development (PD) credits
- Engage in community-building experiences
This day will include two focused learning sessions:
- Morning session: Presentation on Emotional Well-Being -with Sesame Workshop
Young children have big feelings and caring adults can help them learn how to understand and manage those feelings. In this session, explore free Sesame Workshop resources, including videos, songs, activities, and guides for families. Learn simple ways to help children name their feelings, build caring relationships, and talk about hard emotions. You will also explore the Sesame Workshop website and find resources you can use in your program. This session will be led by representatives from Sesame Street.
- Afternoon Session: Nature Education: Food & Nature Connection: Global Grains-Rice, Millet, Sorghum & Wheat
Food and mealtimes are great ways for children to learn about the world around them. In this session, explore common grains such as rice, millet, sorghum and wheat and learn about where they come from. Discover fun activities that connect food and nature to science, math, art, language, music and social studies. Leave with ideas you can use to help children explore and learn through food. This session will be led by our All Our Kin NY Educational Coach, Eunice Reed.
Who is this for?
- Licensed family child care and group child care educators
- Family child care assistants are especially encouraged to attend and will have dedicated opportunities to train, connect and grow alongside each other and other educators
