Join us for Educator Connect, a dynamic in-person gathering designed to bring family child care educators and assistants together for learning and connection. Light breakfast will be provided.

This event offers space to:

• Build and strengthen relationship with fellow educators
• Connect and get to know the All Our Kin NY Team
• Earn professional development (PD) credits
• Engage in community-building experiences

This day will include two focused learning sessions:

• Morning session: Storm on Sesame Street -with Sesame Workshop

Join us for a 90-minute interactive workshop that uses Storm on Sesame Street as a springboard for exploring how early childhood providers can support young children before, during, and after extreme weather events. Through guided discussion, reflection and practical application, participants will examine strategies for helping children feel safe, cope with big emotions, build resilience, and recognize the power of community and helping behaviors. Providers will also explore Sesame Workshop’s free emergency preparedness and recovery resources, including videos, family guides, printable activities, and other tools designed to support children and caregivers through challenging situations.

• Afternoon Session: Nature Connections in Indoor Spaces

Young children learn extensively through exploring their environment. They are active, sensory learners who use touch, sight, sound, smell, and taste to gather information, build brain connections, and understand the world. The outdoor natural environment is an excellent place they can explore and extend their learning experiences. However, there are times when exposure to the outdoor environment may be unsafe or limited. In times like that there are many creative ways adults can bring nature items and specimens indoor to facilitate natural learning experiences.

Join us as we explore various strategies that can be used to create engaging interactive indoor areas where children can learn more about the natural world. This session will be led by our All Our Kin NY Educational Coach, Eunice Reed.

Who is this for?

• Licensed family child care and group child care educators
• Family child care assistants are especially encouraged to attend and will have dedicated opportunities to train, connect and grow alongside each other and other educators
