Supporting the Well-Being of Educators

Early childhood educators sit at the intersection of complex individual and societal challenges. The dual pandemics of COVID and ongoing racial violence have amplified the need for mental and behavioral support within our community. In addition to work stress, all of this can impact educators, and in turn, children’s health and well-being.

As a response, All Our Kin will offer a year-long professional development series focused on stress, trauma, loss and mental wellness. We know these past few years have been very challenging, and we hope these opportunities will offer spaces for you to learn new skills and to process stress and heal.

Key Details:

  • Three virtual workshops open to All Our Kin family child care educators
  • You can attend all sessions or only those that interest you
  • Workshops will cover a range of important topics, including stress, trauma, relationships and regulating the nervous system.
  • Dates for Circle of Security and Emotionally Responsive Practice will be announced in the coming weeks

Workshops

Somatic Experiencing® for Resolving Stress and Trauma with Beth Roth

Do you let emotions take control in the face of work and societal challenges? Join this interactive workshop to learn how your nervous system's fight, flight and freeze responds to accute and chronic stress and trauma, mind-body practices for regulating the nervous system and co-regulation strategies with children in your care.

This series has ended.

Circle of Security

Circle of Security Parenting® (COSP) is an eight-session video-based reflection and discussion learning experience that teaches attachment theory, empathy and deep relational skills using language and concepts that are easy to understand. Key concepts include: children seek connection not attention, it’s never too late to repair relationships, good enough parenting.

At the end of the eight-week COSP series, educators will:

  • Build a close, trusting and caring cohort - a “circle” - of fellow educators with whom they will share and reflect.
  • Understand what the Circle of Security looks like and why it’s important, by sharing circle stories and recognizing what happens when children are on different parts of the circle.
  • Expand their thinking and understanding of what children’s behaviors really communicate.
  • Reflect on the ways they were parented and how their upbringing impacts their caregiving.
  • Talk about and experience what forgiveness and repair can look like in relationships.
  • Become better attuned to the deep relationships they are building with the children in their care.
