What would Black childhood look like if we centered Black joy instead of anti-Black racism?
The Journey to Nia is a curriculum program that supports adults to create healthy racial, cultural and playful identities for Black children in their earliest years.
Nia means “purpose” in Swahili, an East African language.
In the Journey to Nia workshop series, family childcare educators will learn how to identify ways to care for and educate Black children so they can thrive. Participants will also be supported to do radical self-care and community care as we explore the layered impacts of anti-Black racism on very young children and early childhood environments
